Interview Tips
If you're hired by Xperts, it means you've got a set of skills that will, in turn, get our clients excited about Xperts. That said, every time you get assigned to a new project or sent to a new client site, it's as if you're applying for a job all over again. So we created the following interview tips. We hope it will help you with your first interview with us, as well as your possible interviews with our clients
Research your client
Web sites and quarterly reports are a good start. Before embarking on a new assignment, ask for a complete overview of the project from your point of contact.
Refresh your resume for each project
Find out all the specs for a project and craft your resume to fit the customer's expectations. Put the right buzzwords in the first sentence of each paragraph of your resume to make sure it gets read.
Showcase your skills and experience
that meet the client's ultimate objective.
Cram for a job
Study new material that interests the client so you can be familiar with the technology and details of each project.
Demo the interview
Role playing greatly increases the success of an interview. It also better prepares you for inevitable bumps. You'll feel better prepared, and your confidence will show (and sell).
Write down scripts
Take the time to guess at the client's first line of questions, then write out scripts to answer them. The process of writing out the answers engraves the answers in your mind. Once in the interview they'll flow out freely and give you a significant air of confidence.
Anecdotal stories
Have at least two anecdotal stories on hand that you might work into an interview. These may highlight how good you are at the functions you think they are going to ask you about. Work them in, even if you're not asked specifically about the subjects of the story.
Dress Appropriately
We call it "Business Camouflage". First impressions are crucial. Even if the atmosphere is business casual, wear a suit or nice clothes. Clients are always looking for a reason to reject someone in the same way that recruiters will throw away a person''s resume for a single spelling mistake. Don't give the client a reason to throw you away.
Handle yourself well
Answer honestly, but positively. Be enthusiastic.
