Lubuw’s credentials include growing up on a tiny pacific island learning traditional skills, and landing his first paid job at $.80 cents/hr. He furthered his credentials with a one way ticket to Hawaii, where he magnificently failed every job interview, forcing him to make ends meet working in plantation fields & trimming coconut trees (where his traditional training came in handy). Out of sheer luck and serendipity, mystified, he got a student job at Pacific Business Center Program. Here, he worked on his first computer. Six years later, CEO of his internet tech firm, he was awarded "High Tech Leader of the Year", SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year, the University of Hawaii's “Rising Star of Oceania”, and “40 under 40” by PBN. A serial entrepreneur, Lubuw’s first tech venture, Digital Mediums, was named 2nd Fastest Growing Company two years in a row. Shortly after, he spun off “Hirez Network”, which he stumbled into successfully selling the company 5 years later. Full of new excitement from the experience, in 2012 he once again boot strapped 'ActivityRez', an enterprise grade SaaS software company geared towards the fragmented Travel sector of tours & attractions. ActivityRez expanded nationally and internationally, and fast tracked the ranks into working with high profile Fortune 500 companies, such as Disney, AAA Travel Services, Hilton Corporation, Wyndham Corporation, and Expedia Global to name a few. Following prior trends, ActivityRez was ranked # 1 fastest growing company in the state of Hawaii, and also ranked top #22 by Inc. 500. He sold ActivityRez mid 2018. Lubuw has been an EO (Entrepreneur Organization) member for over 11 years, on the board for for 7 years, with one year term as Chapter President. He has also served on the boards for non profit's such as Olelo Media, The Hawaii Nature Center, while also being heavily involved with projects on Hawaiian indigenous cultural preservation thru Kamehameha Schools/KIC, while giving back to his home islands with numerous contributions, including the first annual Google based Startup weekend throughout Micronesia. A man of two worlds: the traditional island world of his youth, and that of a high-tech serial entrepreneur Lubuw is now turning attention back to his pacific island heritage. Using his experience abroad and, a close network of colleagues, he is seeking innovative alternative development models to support indigenous integrity in the modern world. A creative geek at heart, Lubuw’s hobbies include tinkering with internet enabled gadgets and his passion for artistic wood work.
